Boosting Low-Altitude Economy! Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (XEMC) Secures 2026 Hunan Provincial Key R&D Program Project
Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province officially announced the list of approved projects for the 2026 Hunan Provincial Key R&D Program. The "R&D of Integrated Oil-Cooled Electric Drive System for Electric Propellers" project, led by XEMC, was successfully selected.
This project is led by XEMC and jointly undertaken by the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Changsha Xiangtan Electric Technology Co., Ltd. It aims to address the current limitations of domestic general-purpose electric drive systems in meeting the high power density, high thermal management efficiency, and high reliability requirements for electric aviation and high-end unmanned equipment. The project will conduct research on the design and key technologies of high-density integrated oil-cooled electric drive systems for propellers, develop a prototype of an integrated oil-cooled drive system for ton-class unmanned aerial vehicles with independent intellectual property rights, and achieve small-batch commercial installation.

This approval represents high recognition of XEMC's R&D capabilities in the field of aviation electrification. In the next step, XEMC will form a dedicated team to accelerate breakthroughs in key technologies and engineering application verification, continue to deepen its expertise in the field of low-altitude economy aircraft power systems, contribute to the high-quality development of Hunan's low-altitude economy industry, and support the development of a national hub for advanced manufacturing.
